The Career Center also has an online portal called Hire-A-Niner for current students and graduates to find and apply for on-campus and off-campus jobs and internships. You can rent clothes for your interview so that you're dressed for success. So let's say you have an interview coming up and you forgot to bring your professional clothes with you to school. My favorite part of the Career Center is the Professional Clothing Closet they have for students. They offer different services such as resume and cover letter reviews, career fairs, and various events and workshops to become connected to employers in and around the Charlotte area. Our career center is available to assist students with internship opportunities, jobs, and career choices. So does anyone want a job after college? Yes, no? Well, I would hope at least some you do. So the building behind the green and yellow flags is the Career Center. Are there any questions about Colvard and the resources within it? Alright, so moving on.this building is King which is home to the Human Resources Office and Student Employment. This resource helps to acclimate students to college life and provide help so that students are able to succeed. This is a great resource for students because they offer tutoring for various subjects and hold workshops focusing on different things, such as study hacks and money management. Also within Colvard, is the University Center for Academic Excellence or the UCAE. If you come to the university and don't know what you want to major in, you will be assigned to an advisor within the college that will help you figure your interest and help place you in a major that you will do well in and that you love. The University College resides in Colvard. Some people like to refer to the two sides of Colvard as a left and right brain which I think is pretty clever considering the majors housed in the building. Colvard is home to Communications, Criminal Justice, and Psychology. Now we're going to walk and I'll talk a little about some of the buildings we pass. Does anyone have any questions about the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences? Alright great. Biology, English, Philosophy, and Criminal Justice are some examples of majors within the college. This is the largest college on campus with the most majors. Are there any questions about the College of Arts and Architecture? I also want to quickly touch on the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The architecture students build the sets while the visual arts students paint them so it's really awesome to see the collaboration within the department. An example of this are the productions put on by the theatre students. One thing I find really interesting about the College of Arts and Architecture is the collaboration within the college. Within these buildings, students have access to dance studios, a costume and scene shop, art galleries, among other things. And then this building right here (point) is Rowe which is home to visual arts. This building right here (point) is Robinson Hall and it is home to the performing arts department which includes Dance, Music, and Theater and also features a performance hall. Students also have their own workspaces with state-of-the-art facilities. Students that go through the program are prepared for the licensing process upon graduation, which I feel is a great opportunity for students especially when going into the workforce after college. Our program is one of two accredited programs in the state of North Carolina. So the building furthest away from us (point) is Storrs which is home to our Architecture Program. So, while we're here, I'm going to talk a little bit about our College of Arts and Architecture here on campus. I mentioned fishing because this is a catch and release lake so the Bass Fishing Club on campus likes to come here often as well as people from the community. To view the credit that is available for each examination, select a testing program below. So does anyone like to fish? (If, not) Well is there anyone at least slightly interested? Okay awesome. Thus, in an effort to alleviate duplication at the university level, to promote academic motivation and to provide assistance toward educational goals, qualified students are encouraged to take advantage of credit-by-examination opportunities offered through Advanced Placement, College Level Examination Programs, International Baccalaureate, Dantes Subject Standardized Tests, and Cambridge International Examinations. For students who excel in certain subject areas, college freshman level course work may be repetitious. The University of North Carolina Wilmington participates in the advanced placement programs of the Educational Testing Service (ETS) by awarding academic credit to students who achieve acceptable scores on those examinations determined to have a UNC Wilmington course equivalent.
